History of Blinker-Lite Safety/Port-A-Pot

Blinker-Lite was created in 1972 with ten portable toilets and 50 barricades to form Blinker-Lite Safety.   Our mission then and continues today – is to hire the best people with a strong work-ethic who will provide the best work site area protection and portable toilet service possible.

Blinker-Lite President, Charlie Potter, prides himself in leading a company that puts satisfying the needs of the customer first. His philosophy is that when you provide your employees with a desirable work environment, they show their gratitude through their interactions with customers.  Making this philosophy a reality, Blinker-Lite has become well known for their outstanding customer service.

To this day our twenty-four hour call service and rapid response have allowed us to embrace both employees and customers. Over 60% of our people have been with us over 15 years and 90% of our customers are with us after 39 years.  Our customers know that they can count on us when they need help even under short notice and emergencies.

In the early years large competitors found that our refusal to try to be all things to all people allowed us to provide the finest toilet service. In 1990 Waste Management asked us to purchase their toilet service so they could concentrate on what they did best – roll off and waste bin services.

In May of 2010 our administrative offices and the entire Barricade Work Site Protection area was totally destroyed in the big “Nashville Flood”.   Yet even through this huge problem, we never missed a day of Port-A-Pot service or Work Site services which we operated from the open lot where the flood had ripped out our building.   The exceptional dedication of every employee is what allowed us to continue our service – and our customers are well aware of the quality and loyal service they receive.

Once again, we are fully operational and expanding services to better meet the needs of Middle Tennessee – because we have such workers and leaders – ready to serve you.
